According to a report by NBC on July 15th, an internal assessment from the US Department of Defense shows that the actual cost of US military operations against Iran could reach as high as $100 billion, far exceeding the approximately $300 billion previously disclosed by the US government. The report stated that the significant discrepancy between the two figures is primarily due to the official estimates not including undisclosed operational expenses, losses of advanced aircraft, and the significant costs of the damage to US military facilities in the Middle East. US Senator Angus King said that the American people are extremely disappointed that the actual costs of the war are not known, "not to mention the additional costs that the conflict brings to people in terms of gas prices and other aspects."
