Two oil tankers carrying Iranian oil indicated that their destination is Pakistan.
Two tankers carrying Iranian oil have signaled that their destination is Pakistan. This unusual move may indicate that they are seeking a safe haven as the US sanctions take effect. Ship tracking data shows that the two vessels, Rani and Amil, are carrying a total of 1 million barrels of crude oil and changed their destination signal to Karachi on Tuesday. These tankers were already outside the Persian Gulf when the US re-imposed naval blockade on Iranian shipping. It is unlikely that these tankers will unload in Pakistan, as this would pose a risk of violating US sanctions for Pakistan. According to the data intelligence company Kpler, Pakistan has not imported any Iranian crude oil for at least a decade.
