National Bureau of Statistics on fluctuations in GDP growth rate in the second quarter: mainly influenced by some short-term factors and external factors.

The National Bureau of Statistics released data, the preliminary calculation shows that the GDP of China in the first half of the year was 69.5704 trillion yuan, calculated at constant prices, an increase of 4.7% year-on-year. Looking at the quarters, the GDP growth in the first quarter was 5.0% year-on-year, and 4.3% in the second quarter. In terms of quarter-on-quarter growth, the GDP in the second quarter increased by 0.9%. Regarding the fluctuation in GDP growth in the second quarter, Vice Director of the National Bureau of Statistics, Mao Shengyong, said that the basic fundamentals of steady economic operation and towards new and better development have not changed. The fluctuations in GDP are mainly influenced by some short-term and external factors. Industries mainly affected by the impact are some petrochemical-related industries, as well as coal production, while other industries are normal.
