Shanghai issues first prescription for brain-computer interface and successfully performs surgery.
According to the Shanghai Science and Technology Commission, on July 13th, the first prescription for the implanted brain-machine interface hand movement compensation system that was approved for market authorization was issued in Shanghai. The world's first implant surgery was completed at Huashan Hospital affiliated to Fudan University. The intraoperative tests showed that the system effectively collected stable and good quality epidural electroencephalogram signals. Currently, the patient's postoperative vital signs are stable. From being approved for market authorization on March 13th to entering real clinical use four months later, this cutting-edge technology, previously limited to laboratories and clinical trials, has now become a medical product that eligible patients can receive assessment and use.
