Guangzhou cracks down on illegally modified electric bicycles

Reporters learned yesterday from the traffic management department of the public security organ that in order to promote the implementation of "civilized travel", Guangzhou traffic police quickly organized elite police forces to strengthen accurate online and offline analysis and unified inspections, accurately identifying a group of suspects involved in illegal modification of electric bicycles shops and individuals involved in illegal modification of electric bicycles, and launched the "Thunder Escort" second round of crackdown on electric bicycles on July 9th to carry out a special concentrated netting operation. On the day of the operation, Guangzhou traffic police, in conjunction with the municipal market supervision bureau, deployed more than 400 police officers and 120 market supervision enforcement personnel to various districts to carry out precise inspections on targets. Currently, joint inspections have been carried out on 118 shops suspected of illegal modification of electric bicycles; on 407 individuals suspected of illegally modifying electric bicycles, 21 people have been administratively detained and 386 people have been fined.
