WTI August crude oil futures fell by $0.67, or 0.93%, to $71.41 per barrel. Middle Eastern Abu Dhabi Murban crude oil futures fell by 0.99% to $70.66 per barrel, with a weekly increase of 6.29%. NYMEX August natural gas futures closed at $2.94 per million British thermal units. NYMEX August gasoline futures closed at $2.9846 per gallon, and NYMEX August heating oil futures closed at $3.5533 per gallon.

According to the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission, as of the week of July 7, speculators on the New York Mercantile Exchange reduced their net long positions in gold by 1,964 contracts, bringing net long positions down to 114,854 contracts; copper speculators reduced their net long positions by 970 contracts, bringing net long positions down to 60,397 contracts; and silver speculators reduced their net long positions by 616 contracts, bringing net long positions down to 12,131 contracts.
