Indonesian company Alamtri launches aluminum exports, shipping metal to the United States.
According to the trade data platform Export Genius, a smelting plant under Indonesian mining and energy group PT Alamtri Resources Indonesia completed its first batch of aluminum exports in June, with shipments destined for the United States and South Korea. The latest shipment of aluminum to the United States was purchased by trader Mercuria, while the shipment to South Korea was purchased by Vitol. Export Genius data shows that PT Kalimantan Aluminium Industry, located on the island of Borneo, began commissioning its phase one project at the end of last year and shipped 31,494 tons of primary aluminum to the United States last month, as well as 3,569 tons to South Korea. Due to the war between the US and Iran leading to interruptions in deliveries from major suppliers in the Gulf region, the United States is actively seeking alternative sources of aluminum.
