Multiple Tesla supply chain insiders said that Tesla recently issued specific purchasing guidelines for Optimus parts, requiring suppliers to increase production capacity to 1000 units per week by September of this year, and then to 2000-2500 units per week by the end of the year. Two sources close to suppliers said that Tesla will place orders about 2 months in advance and they have already seen specific orders for hundreds of units in August. Based on this estimate, Tesla's suppliers are expected to have the capability to supply Tesla with 100,000 units of Optimus components by the end of the year. It is understood that before placing orders with the supply chain, Musk approved the latest version of Optimus at an executive meeting at the end of June, which means that OptimusGen3 will finally move out of the lab and into mass production after more than three years of development.
