The Ministry of Education issues a warning: Beware being induced to transfer money to institutions or individuals through fake notification letters.
During the college enrollment and admission period, some organizations or individuals are using various pretexts to carry out scams for economic gain. A student named Li received a fake admission letter sent by a so-called "university," requiring him to scan the QR code in the letter, download software disguised as a "campus app" or "payment platform," click on the link to fill in information, and then transfer money into a personal bank account or WeChat/Alipay account in the name of "tuition," "accommodation fee," "deposit," etc. Li transferred 11,000 yuan and later consulted the school, realizing he had been deceived. The Ministry of Education reminds that scammers often obtain students' information through illegal means, make realistic fake admission letters, attach false information such as the school's official website and contact phone number, and deceive students and parents into paying fees in advance.
