China releases the world's first large-scale AI model for stratigraphy, creating a "shared database" for the Earth.
Today, reporters learned from the 5th International Stratigraphy Congress being held in Suzhou that Chinese scientists have released the first stratigraphy AI model and an intelligent global stratigraphic profile comparison system. This means that for the first time, the 4.6 billion years of Earth's evolutionary history will have a globally shared database. Stratigraphy is a fundamental discipline for interpreting the evolutionary history of the Earth, providing core scientific basis for understanding the origins of life, resource distribution, and climate change. Shen Shuzhong, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and vice chairman of the International Stratigraphy Commission, hopes that through the use of timelines and global big data, all geological records of the 4.6 billion years of Earth's history can be sorted according to a unified time standard.
