150,000 hectares of permanent basic farmland in Beijing will be fully incorporated into the "farmland" category.
Sun Longguang, deputy director of the Beijing Municipal Commission of Planning and Natural Resources, introduced that by the end of 2025, the current cultivated land area in Beijing is close to 2 million mu, with more than 1.51 million mu of permanent basic farmland, exceeding the national targets of protecting 1.66 million mu of cultivated land and 1.5 million mu of permanent basic farmland. Building on the foundation of permanent basic farmland, Beijing has further designated a protected area of no less than 1.66 million mu of cultivated land and included it in the national land use planning "one map," clearly defining the inviolable red line of cultivated land protection to ensure that the protection tasks at the municipal, district, and township levels are fully implemented. Sun Longguang introduced that in the municipal cultivated land protection plan, Beijing has designated 14 "millions of mu" fields, over 400 "thousands of mu" fields, and over 3300 "hundreds of mu" fields. These fields mainly include permanent basic farmland, as well as potential resource blocks for future rehabilitation. Within these fields, scientific layout of rural roads, agricultural facilities, and point-like supporting facilities are allowed to serve the large-scale, high-quality operation of these fields. In the next step, the "millions of mu," "thousands of mu," and "hundreds of mu" fields will be supervised and guided by field officials at the municipal, district, and township levels, promoting activities such as land replenishment, quality improvement, and moderately scaled operation within these fields.
