The independence of the Federal Reserve is under scrutiny again: Bernanke's aide transferred to become an advisor to Powell, the "communication channel" between the White House and the central bank attracts attention.

According to the financial app Zhtng Cijng, two informed sources revealed that a senior assistant to US Treasury Secretary Scott Beaton is set to join the Federal Reserve as an advisor to Chairman Kevin Wash. Samantha Schwab has been serving as Beaton's Chief Deputy Chief of Staff at the Treasury since April of this year. She joined the Treasury in January 2025 and previously worked at the White House during President Trump's first term. It is currently unclear when she will officially start her new role as a Federal Reserve advisor.
