South Korea drafts a 392 trillion won investment plan: Giants like Samsung and SK Hynix heavily focus on the central region.
On July 2, the South Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy announced that they will inject 39.2 trillion Korean won into the Chungcheong region for industrial investments. In the total investment, Samsung's subsidiaries will inject around 14 trillion Korean won for the construction of HBM wafer plant, advanced packaging, OLED production, and battery lines. SK Hynix plans to invest approximately 10 trillion Korean won to build NAND and advanced packaging factories. The biopharmaceutical company Celltrion intends to invest around 2 trillion Korean won for biopharmaceutical facilities. In addition, about 15 trillion Korean won will be directed towards AI data centers. The South Korean government promises to provide financing, tax benefits, and regulatory support to ensure the success of these projects.
