Sony: Starting in 2028, new PlayStation games will completely stop releasing physical discs.

On July 1st local time, Sony Interactive Entertainment officially announced that starting from January 2028, all newly released games on the PlayStation platform will no longer be available on physical discs, and will instead be fully transitioned to digital distribution. Retailers and online stores will only sell digital versions of games. Sony stated that this move is in line with the natural trend of consumers shifting towards digital media. This policy does not affect physical disc games that have already been released or planned to be released before January 2028.
