The Smart Finance APP reported that Hutchison China MediTech Limited (02256) has announced that its subsidiary Shanghai Hutchison Pharmaceuticals Technology Co., Ltd. (Hutchison Medicine) has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with AstraZeneca (LSE/STO/NYSE: AZN) to jointly promote a new targeted immunotherapy for the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The joint research is a multicenter, open-label phase I/II clinical trial aimed at evaluating the safety and efficacy of Hutchison Medicine's proprietary First-in-class oral small molecule PD-L1 inhibitor ABSK043 (lumipodlin) in combination with AstraZeneca's third-generation EGFR-TKI Tagrisso (osimertinib) for the treatment of locally advanced or metastatic NSCLC patients who have EGFR mutations and are PD-L1 positive. The new drug clinical trial application (IND) for this study was approved by the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) on May 20, 2026. The phase II study will be led by Hutchison Medicine, with both Hutchison Medicine and AstraZeneca sharing responsibilities for the clinical trial.
