On July 1st local time, the UK Maritime Trade Operations Office reported that two maritime security incidents involving ships occurred in the sea south of Barhaf, Yemen. One report said that four armed individuals boarded a small boat and approached and "illegally boarded" a commercial vessel, damaging the bridge and compartments. The crew of the commercial vessel took refuge in a safe room and were temporarily safe. The small boat involved later left the ship but continued to operate nearby. The other incident occurred approximately 85 nautical miles south of Barhaf, where a small boat approached an oil tanker and then sailed south, with the crew of the oil tanker safe and the vessel continuing its journey. The UK Maritime Trade Operations Office stated that the relevant authorities are investigating these two incidents and reminded passing ships to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities promptly.
