Meta Platforms is pushing forward with its cloud infrastructure business plan, planning to sell AI computing power usage rights and in-house large model services, opening up a new competitive track and engaging in direct competition with industry leaders such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud. Multiple sources familiar with the matter revealed that Meta is investing heavily in expanding data centers and supporting infrastructure to support its AI strategy. The company is now planning to establish an independent business unit to sell excess computing power externally and create additional revenue, with specific details not yet publicly disclosed. Sources said that one implementation plan is to open up multiple large models deployed on Meta's own AI infrastructure, with the model hosting service mode resembling Amazon Web Services' Bedrock model hosting service. Meta will independently operate data centers and computing chips that support model operation, including the in-house Muse Spark multimodal large model, and charge developers for usage fees.
