The European Union's technology affairs officer had a constructive meeting with the CEO of Apple on issues of mutual concern.
The spokesperson of the European Commission said that European Commissioner for Technology, Henna Virkkunen, had a "constructive" conversation with Apple CEO Tim Cook via video call on Monday. The spokesperson added on Wednesday that they discussed "issues of mutual concern" and that the work is still ongoing. The iPhone maker stated that its Siri artificial intelligence service will not initially be available on iPhones or iPads in the EU region, and blamed the European Commission for refusing to engage in constructive dialogue to ensure the privacy and security of its devices; while the European Commission accused Apple of failing to develop devices that comply with EU standards for "interoperability."
