Hong Kong holds flag-raising ceremony and reception to celebrate 29th anniversary of its return to the motherland.
On the morning of July 1st, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government held a flag-raising ceremony and reception to celebrate the 29th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland. At 8 o'clock in the morning, the flag-raising ceremony took place at the Golden Bauhinia Square in Hong Kong. The Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Carrie Lam, officials from the Central Government Liaison Office in Hong Kong, and members of the community attended the event. Accompanied by the national anthem, the bright red five-star flag and the flag of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region were slowly raised at the Golden Bauhinia Square. All attendees stood facing the flags and sang the national anthem. After the flag-raising ceremony, the Hong Kong SAR government held a reception at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center to celebrate the 29th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland. In the early morning of that day, the Central Government Liaison Office in Hong Kong also held a flag-raising ceremony.
