An explosion occurred near the headquarters of the Ecuadorian Mining Regulation Agency in the early hours of the 29th, resulting in injuries to a security guard and damage to the agency's office building and surrounding structures. According to a report from the Ecuadorian National Police, at around 3 a.m. local time on the 29th, two consecutive explosions occurred on the outskirts of the agency's headquarters in the north of the capital city of Quito. Prior to the explosions, someone drove to the scene and left two packages, which then exploded.
