Selling fake donkey meat, forging qualifications... Shanghai announces a new batch of typical cases of food safety in online catering.

Shanghai Market Supervision Bureau's Law Enforcement Team investigated and prosecuted 6 network catering units for counterfeiting and mixing meat products: On April 9th and 10th, 2026, the Shanghai Market Supervision Bureau's Law Enforcement Team and the Shanghai Public Security Bureau's Environmental Resources and Food and Drug Crime Investigation Team, based on previous undercover investigations, conducted a joint enforcement action against 6 network catering units, including Chengcheng Restaurant in Minhang District, Wangling Catering Service in Putuo District, Zhang Kai Snack Shop in Baoshan District, Qidi Snack Shop in Baoshan District, and Muyun Restaurant in Caolu Town, Pudong New Area. It was found that these 6 network catering units were illegally selling dishes made from horse meat, pork, and other non-donkey meat ingredients as "donkey meat buns" and "donkey meat vermicelli soup". Approximately 56 kilograms of contraband food were seized, with a total amount involved of 448,000 yuan.
