The Federal Trade Commission of the United States approved Elon Musk's acquisition of Mesh Optical Technologies Corporation on June 25. Mesh Optical Technologies was founded by three former SpaceX engineers Travis Brashers, Cameron Ramos, and Selena Groven-Harper, who had previously led the design of the laser inter-satellite link system for the Starlink satellites at SpaceX. The company emerged from stealth mode in February this year and completed a Series A financing round of over $50 million led by Thrive Capital. Mesh's core product is the Alpha C1 optical transceiver, with a transmission rate of 1.6Tbps, using flip-chip bonding technology to manufacture, using light signals instead of traditional copper cables to transfer data between servers and GPUs, which can significantly reduce latency and energy consumption.
