China Mobile and its industry partners jointly released the world's first open-source project OpenAN for communication smart bodies.

On June 25, during the 2026 Shanghai World Mobile Communications Congress, China Mobile, together with GSMA and several international renowned communication and technology companies such as Huawei and ZTE, officially launched the world's first open source project for communication intelligent agent collaboration, OpenAN, in the Linux Networking Sub-Fundation community, aiming to achieve a secure, efficient, and controllable multi-intelligent agent collaboration mode for network operation scenarios. The release of the OpenAN project provides the global communication industry with the first open source solution for intelligent agent collaboration in communication scenarios, marking the transition of intelligent agent technology from conceptual research to engineering implementation. At the same time, the project also accumulates important technical foundations for the evolution of self-organized networks towards L4 level.
