SpaceX is reportedly starting the construction of a natural gas pipeline to the starship launch site next month.
Local government documents show that SpaceX plans to begin construction of an 8-mile long natural gas pipeline next month, named Starpipe, leading to its "Starbase" in Texas to help speed up the launch frequency of its next-generation Starship rockets. The pipeline is expected to be operational on January 26 next year. Each Starship launch requires approximately 630,000 gallons of liquid methane, which currently needs to be transported by hundreds of tanker trucks taking hours, which is not in line with Musk's expansion plans. SpaceX hopes to build a liquefaction facility at the Starbase to process the natural gas transported by the pipeline into liquid methane. With a diameter of 16 inches, the pipeline's fuel delivery capacity will exceed the total amount of fuel required for 25 Starship launches per year approved by the Federal Aviation Administration.
