The Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention stated at a press conference on the 25th that with the continuous worsening of the epidemic situation, the funding needed for Ebola response has been significantly increased to $1.4 billion, nearly three times the previous estimate of $518 million. Jean-Cassey, the Director of the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said at the press conference that the development of the epidemic and the escalating humanitarian crisis have raised the cost of prevention and control, leading to a significant increase in the funding needed. Jean-Cassey pointed out that the security and humanitarian situation in Ituri Province, Congo, continues to deteriorate, severely impacting the Ebola prevention and control efforts. The epidemic report released by the Congolese Ministry of Health on the same day showed that the cumulative number of confirmed cases in the current Ebola outbreak in the country has risen to 1155, with 304 deaths. The mortality rate among confirmed cases is 26.3%.
