Apple is making one of the largest adjustments ever to its Mac chip strategy, preparing to leap directly to a new generation of chips with a focus on artificial intelligence in the next flagship processor. According to sources, the company is currently in the planning stages of the M5 series and is set to launch the base version M6 processor for entry-level Macs as early as this year. Apple's unconventional move is aimed at accelerating the release of technologies originally planned for a later time. This move is expected to meet the growing demand in the market for edge AI functionality and graphic-intensive software.
