Indonesia expects the Abadi liquefied natural gas project to start construction in July.
Indonesian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, stated at a meeting in Jakarta on Thursday that Inpex's Abadi liquefied natural gas project in the Masela block is expected to start construction in July this year after completing the final investment decision stage. The government anticipates production to begin as early as in 2029. He mentioned that debates over whether the LNG plant should be built onshore or offshore have caused delays in the timeline. The government will maintain subsidies for fuel prices, as higher revenues from mining concession fees can help cover the subsidies.
