Former chairman of Zhongguancun Development Group, Zhao Changshan, was sentenced to 19 years in prison in the first instance trial for corruption and bribery.

On June 25, the Beijing First Intermediate People's Court publicly pronounced the verdict of Zhao Changshan, former Party Secretary and Chairman of Zhongguancun Development Group Co., Ltd., for corruption and bribery. The defendant Zhao Changshan was sentenced to ten years in prison for corruption and fined one million RMB; sentenced to thirteen years in prison for bribery and fined three million RMB; and a total of nineteen years in prison and a fine of four million RMB were imposed. The proceeds from Zhao Changshan's corruption crimes were recovered and returned to the victim unit, and the proceeds from his bribery crimes were confiscated and turned over to the national treasury.
