Lockheed Martin has been awarded a contract worth up to $35 billion by the U.S. Department of Defense, which will increase the production of anti-ballistic missile interceptors to four times the current level. This is part of the overall initiative by the Trump administration to expand ammunition production capacity. Lockheed announced on Wednesday that, under this seven-year indefinite delivery contract, the defense contractor will significantly increase production of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) interceptors. This contract stems from a framework agreement reached by the company and the U.S. Department of Defense in January, which stipulates a substantial increase in production capacity for related equipment in the coming years.
