Notice on the Pilot of Industrial 5G Standalone Private Network by the Office of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and other five departments

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and four other departments have issued an announcement that, in order to further meet the management needs of special industries and large-scale enterprises for information and communication networks and key production data, they have decided to conduct a pilot program for the orderly development of industrial 5G private networks. It is mentioned that an industrial 5G private network refers to a 5G network exclusively owned by industrial enterprises, where the access network, core network, and other key facilities are built and operated independently of public networks. Following the principles of "coordinated standardization, selective promotion of strengths, safety and reliability, intensive and efficient management, and gradual progress," support will be provided for the construction of private networks for large-scale enterprises in industries such as raw materials, equipment manufacturing, consumer goods, electronics and information, national defense technology, energy, and transportation. Encouragement will be given for city pilot projects combining "5G + industrial internet" to lead the way in the construction of private networks. Through pilot projects exploring new models for the construction, use, maintenance, and management of private networks, specific needs of enterprises will be met, the ecosystem of private network industry chains will be cultivated and expanded, and the empowerment of "5G + industrial internet" for various industries will be promoted.
