Masayoshi Son: SoftBank's Arm will enter the chip manufacturing industry, with "more than 10 times growth potential."
On June 24th, Masayoshi Son, the chairman of SoftBank Group, announced at a shareholder meeting that their subsidiary, British chip design company Arm, will evolve from a chip designer to a chip provider and will be directly involved in manufacturing. He predicted that "in the future, the AI era will be centered around CPUs" and emphasized that Arm "still has more than 10 times growth potential". He also mentioned SoftBank's investment in Intel, around 300 billion yen, saying that they faced criticism at first, but now the profit calculated by market value has reached tens of trillions of yen.
