Dengue virus strain mutation in Sri Lanka leads to a sharp increase in cases.
According to Sri Lankan media reports on June 23rd, as of that day, the number of dengue fever cases in the country this year has reached 47,530, with 29 deaths. On the 21st, there were over a thousand new cases in a single day, reaching 1,069 cases. The Sri Lankan National Dengue Control Center warned on the 22nd that the recent high incidence of dengue fever infections has led to a significant increase in the number of hospital visits in the country, putting a huge pressure on the healthcare system. The Deputy Minister of Health of Sri Lanka previously stated that one of the reasons for the rapid increase in dengue fever cases recently is the mutation of the virus strain, which has resulted in increased transmission.
