The BRICS countries' meeting of senior representatives on security affairs is held in New Delhi.
On June 23, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Director of the Central Foreign Affairs Office, attended the BRICS National Security Advisors' meeting in New Delhi. The meeting was chaired by Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. Representatives and leaders from the BRICS countries discussed in-depth topics such as addressing non-traditional security challenges, counter-terrorism, and cyber security.
Wang Yi stated that cooperation among BRICS countries has developed over the past 20 years and has increasingly become a key force in maintaining peace, promoting development, and upholding justice in the world. Faced with complex and profound changes in the international landscape, China is willing to work with BRICS countries to jointly address urgent challenges facing human society and uphold the correct direction of world historical evolution.
Firstly, BRICS should defend international order. They should uphold multilateralism, firmly defend the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter, and clearly oppose unilateralism and protectionism. As the forefront of the Global South, BRICS countries should speak out fairly, do things fairly, and enhance their role and status in international affairs.
Secondly, they should use BRICS consensus to break through security dilemmas. They should promote a common, comprehensive, cooperative, and sustainable security outlook, firmly push for political solutions to hot issues, and actively explore effective ways to resolve disputes through dialogue and consultation.
Thirdly, they should take actions to address global challenges. They should resolutely combat all forms of terrorism, clearly oppose the militarization of outer space, effectively address global energy and food security challenges, strengthen strategic mineral resource cooperation, and unite to address the Ebola epidemic in Africa.
Lastly, they should use BRICS wisdom to improve governance in emerging fields. They should closely guard against risks of artificial intelligence, regulate the development direction of artificial intelligence, and support the United Nations as the main channel for advancing global cyber and digital governance.
