This year, the number of people entering and leaving Tibet's Gyirong Port has exceeded 100,000.
On June 23, the reporter learned from the Gyirong Immigration Checkpoint that as of 11:58 on June 23, the total number of inbound and outbound personnel at the Gyirong Port in Tibet this year exceeded 100,000, an increase of 12.85% year-on-year. Gyirong Port is located on the China-Nepal border in the city of Shigatse, Tibet. Since 2026, with the comprehensive recovery of cross-border tourism between China and Nepal, as well as the vigorous development of border trade between residents, the flow of commercial activities, self-driving travel, and group tourism at the port has increased significantly. Currently, Gyirong Port is in the peak clearance season. The Gyirong Immigration Checkpoint relies on big data to analyze the peak and valley patterns of passenger flow, fully implements a dynamic duty mechanism, and adopts a mode of "opening additional lanes during peak hours, flexible staffing during normal hours, and rapid emergency response." Multiple multilingual service positions have been added for convenience, and inspections are classified and diverted accordingly. At the same time, the "one-stop" joint inspection model is implemented to shorten vehicle clearance times, with a green channel opened for cross-border fresh goods, and the implementation of appointment clearance services and instant inspection release services to enhance cross-border logistics efficiency.
