According to South Korean media The Elec, industry sources have revealed that Apple has approved Samsung Display to begin production of foldable OLED modules. Samsung Display has activated part of the backend production line at its factory in Vietnam, with the first batch of approximately 3 million panels planned to be delivered this year. Module mass production certification is a necessary review that panel suppliers must pass before officially supplying the panels, mainly inspecting final assembly quality, product performance, and mass production stability. It is reported that Apple has requested a yield rate of at least 70%, and Samsung Display's final yield rate exceeded 80%, successfully passing the certification. Samsung Display will exclusively supply the OLED panels required for Apple's first foldable screen smartphone. The two companies have signed a three-year exclusive supply agreement, during which Apple will not purchase foldable OLED panels from other suppliers. The first batch of shipments this year is expected to be around 3 million panels. Samsung Display is responsible for the backend process of the panels at the Vietnam factory.
