The U.S. automotive safety regulatory agency has launched an investigation into a fatal car accident involving Tesla (TSLA.O). The car crashed into a residential building last Friday night, resulting in the death of one person inside the house. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced on Monday that they will investigate a crash involving a Tesla Model 3 that occurred near Houston, Texas. According to a statement from the Harris County Sheriff's Office, the driver of the Tesla told authorities he was using the autopilot system at the time of the accident. Officials from the Sheriff's Office stated that the car veered off the road and "intensely sped into the brick-lined residence," hitting a woman inside the house. The woman later died from injuries sustained in the accident.
