Qatar says Sunday's explosion at the Ras Laffan Industrial Zone will not affect its liquefied natural gas export capabilities. The CEO of Qatar Energy Company said at a press conference in Doha, "This will not affect our exports." He added that an investigation into the accident, which resulted in 13 deaths and 66 injuries, has already begun. On Sunday, an explosion and fire occurred at a local gas supply facility in Barzan, sparking concerns that the restart of the Ras Laffan facility may be delayed. The facility had been partially damaged earlier this year due to a drone attack. This largest global liquefied natural gas export facility is closely watched by the natural gas market, as its quick resumption of operations will help alleviate global fuel prices. According to ship tracking data, four oil tankers owned or long-term leased by Qatar's shipping department are heading towards Ras Laffan through the strait as Qatar prepares to restart transportation and intensifies bringing more empty oil tankers back to the country, and they are not hiding their locations.
