Spot egg prices have fallen from their high levels, while futures and spot prices have both significantly weakened.
Today's spot prices continued to decline. According to data monitoring from Zhuo Chuang Information, as of 14:47 on June 22, the average price of eggs in the main producing areas of the country was 4.45 yuan/jin, a decrease of 0.08 yuan/jin compared to yesterday. Overall, prior purchases for the Dragon Boat Festival drove spot egg prices higher, but demand quickly decreased after the holiday. Combined with the suppression of circulation purchases due to the rainy season in the south, spot prices rapidly fell, and egg futures also plummeted. The increase in stocks at the current moment, both in the production and circulation sectors, is significantly higher than the same period last year. A short-term surplus in supply and demand is beginning to emerge, leaving room for spot egg prices to adjust. However, with the end of the rainy season in July and the start of Mid-Autumn Festival stockpiling in September, there is still a demand for certain rebound in spot egg prices. It is advised to be cautious in shorting positions in the near future, and attention should still be paid to the inventory and stock levels in the production areas. It is worth noting that the chicks introduced in the second quarter will start production at the end of the fourth quarter, leading to an increase in supply pressure, which should not be ignored in the long term.
