Institution: Consumer DRAM shortage situation extends to DDR2 products, third-quarter contract prices will continue to rise.
According to the latest research from TrendForce, due to the structural tightening of supply in mature process DRAM, it has forced consumer DRAM demanders to use old-generation products to obtain more DRAM supply quotas. This has driven a new wave of demand for old-generation consumer DRAM chips in the industry recently, causing contract prices for consumer DRAM chips of generations including DDR2 and DDR3 to continue their upward momentum from the first quarter of 2026. It is estimated that the contract prices for DDR2 in the second quarter will increase by about 55-60%, and it is further estimated that they will rise by 35-40% in the third quarter.
