Kuwait demands buyers to pick up goods at the Persian Gulf ports, signaling a possible reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
Kuwait is demanding customers to extract refined oil products from a port deep in the Persian Gulf. According to a document seen by the media, Kuwait Petroleum Corporation issued a tender announcement for selling naphtha, requiring buyers to pick up the goods from a port in the country. These goods need to be transported to the customers through this waterway. Traders say that this is the first time in quite a long time that Kuwait has implemented such a sales arrangement, but did not provide further details. They point out that unlike previous sales, this time buyers are required to charter vessels to transport the goods themselves. Meanwhile, Kuwait Petroleum Corporation did not immediately respond to requests for comments outside of office hours.
