Libya's main political forces have reached a consensus on the election roadmap.
The Libyan Presidential Committee announced on the 18th that the country's main political forces had reached a preliminary agreement on ending the political transition phase and promoting the election roadmap, and planned to hold presidential and parliamentary elections simultaneously before February 17, 2027. According to a statement from the Presidential Committee, based on the preliminary agreement reached on the 16th by the Libyan National Congress, the National Supreme Committee, and the Presidential Committee, a "6+6" joint committee established by the National Congress and the National Supreme Committee will be responsible for determining the election law, which will then be approved by the National Congress. After the election law comes into effect, presidential and parliamentary elections will be held. The elections will be supervised by a sovereign high committee, with members including the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, the Chairman of the National High Elections Commission, the "5+5" Joint Military Committee, and representatives of security agencies from major political forces in Libya. The document reaffirms the exclusive authority of the Libyan National Oil Corporation to sell Libyan oil, as well as the Central Bank's collection of oil revenues through established legal mechanisms.
