Semafor: Trump advisor considers possible structure of US government investment in AI giant

Semafor cited unnamed sources as saying that before the Trump administration implemented export controls on Anthropic, senior officials weighed how to structure the government's potential stake in large artificial intelligence companies. Treasury Secretary Scott Bennett advocated for using equity in AI companies to provide seed funding for Trump's account. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, on the other hand, leaned towards putting the equity into some kind of sovereign wealth fund. Discussions about the possibility of AI companies transferring ownership to the government are still in the early stages and no decision has been made yet.
