Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney told reporters at the G7 summit in Evian, France, that Canada will not provide any financial assistance to the $300 billion economic development plan for Iran. Carney stated that Canada is willing to assist in implementing the agreement, "any such agreement requires someone to help implement it, a third party to help implement it, a mediator to supervise its implementation." He pointed out that freezing assets is one aspect in which Canada can provide assistance.
