Reporters learned from the Guangdong Provincial Department of Transportation that during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday in 2026, it is expected that the overall traffic flow on highways will remain high, mainly for short and medium-distance trips such as tourism, visiting relatives and friends. The overall travel volume in the province is expected to slightly increase, with traffic pressure mainly concentrated in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area, with a higher proportion of small passenger cars. It is estimated that the average daily traffic volume during the 2026 Dragon Boat Festival holiday will be approximately 8.85 million vehicles, an increase of about 1.94% compared to the previous year. Among them, the daily average traffic volume on the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge is approximately 23,000 vehicles, an increase of 42.48% compared to the previous year; the daily average traffic volume on the Humen Bridge is approximately 119,200 vehicles; the daily average traffic volume on the Nansha Bridge is approximately 142,500 vehicles; the daily average traffic volume on the Huangpu Bridge is approximately 134,000 vehicles, an increase of 0.73% from the previous year; the daily average traffic volume on the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Channel is approximately 136,200 vehicles, an increase of 11.05% compared to the previous year. It is expected that the demand for travel will be highest on the day before the holiday, and the demand for passage will gradually return to normal after the holiday ends.
