After supervisory talks with Sam, several senior executives at Walmart China have been reshuffled.
Sam's Club China CMO Zhang Qing has recently submitted her resignation. In response, Walmart China stated: "We sincerely thank her for her outstanding contributions to the Sam's business during her tenure, and we warmly wish her all the best in the future. Currently, we are actively searching for a successor on a global scale. During the transition period, Neil Maffey will serve as the Acting Chief Procurement Officer for Sam's Club. Neil previously served as the Chief Procurement Officer for Sam's Club from 2013 to 2017, and has been a full-time consultant for the company since stepping down." In addition, it is understood that Walmart China's recent personnel changes also include: Tony Paladinetti, currently the Vice President of Strategy for Walmart International, will join Walmart China as the Vice President of Strategy, reporting directly to Zhu Xiaojing. An internal email stated that Tony will officially join the Chinese team in August 2026 after completing the work visa process, and will relocate to Shenzhen with his wife Meg and children. Yang Zhian, the current Vice President of Strategy for Walmart China, will report directly to Tony. During the transition period, Neil Maffey, former Chief Procurement Officer for Sam's Club and current full-time consultant, will serve as the Acting Chief Procurement Officer for Sam's Club, reporting directly to Liu Peng, the President of Sam's Club, until the new leader takes over. Zhu Jun, the President of Walmart Store Formats, will expand his responsibilities to oversee Walmart China's Real Estate Department. Zhang Jinyuan, the current Senior Vice President of Real Estate for Walmart China, will report directly to Zhu Jun.
