On June 17, at the 2026 Lujiazui Forum "Session Two: Global Financial Governance Reform and Cooperation", World Bank Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Zhang Wencai stated that according to the latest Global Economic Outlook report released by the World Bank, global economic growth has slowed from 2.9% in 2025 to 2.5% in 2026. Compared to the predictions earlier this year, about two-thirds of the global economy has seen a slowdown in growth. If energy supply disruptions are not alleviated in the short term, global economic growth is expected to further decline in 2026.
