National Bureau of Statistics: There are multiple favorable conditions for price stability running smoothly.
The State Council Information Office held a press conference today, and the spokesperson for the National Bureau of Statistics stated that in May, the national consumer price index rose moderately and steadily. In the next phase, prices are expected to continue to run steadily with many favorable conditions still in place. This year, consumer prices have continued to moderately rise since the fourth quarter of last year, with the CPI rising by 1.2% in May compared to the same period last year, the same increase as last month, and staying within the moderate increase range of over 1% for four consecutive months. Due to the impact of international oil prices, domestic gasoline prices fell by 0.3% compared to the previous month after rising by 12.6%. Following the May Day holiday, seasonal declines in travel demand led to decreases in rental transportation and airline ticket prices, with service prices shifting from an increase last month to a decrease. Important consumer goods, especially food prices, have remained stable or even decreased. Wang Guanhua, spokesperson for the National Bureau of Statistics, stated that the foundation for maintaining stable prices has not changed. In the next phase, the international environment remains complex, and there is uncertainty in the price trends of international commodities. However, our country has sufficient supply of important consumer goods, smooth connections in production, transportation, and sales, continuously improving policies to ensure supply and stabilize prices, enhanced price monitoring and emergency control capabilities, and many favorable conditions in place to maintain stable prices. Consumer prices are expected to continue to rise moderately.
