Hong Kong: Plans to accelerate the development of the northern metropolitan area, with over 70,000 housing units and one million square meters of economic floor space to be produced in the next five years.
Today, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government launched a public consultation on the first five-year plan for economic and social development in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. It mentioned accelerating the release and development of space in multiple modes, improving land development efficiency, and enhancing market investment willingness. Increasing the supply of housing and economic land, producing more than 70,000 housing units and 1 million square meters of economic floor area in the next five years by providing economic land as a carrier for high value-added industries. Coordinating the distribution and timely allocation of housing, employment, education, healthcare, social welfare, recreation, and greening facilities in the North District to build a new generation of community environments that are livable, workable, and playable. Emphasizing infrastructure-led development, under the new layout of the "Eight Verticals and Eight Horizontals" transportation infrastructure, vigorously promoting a series of railway and major road projects to improve connectivity within the northern metropolitan area and with other regions of Hong Kong. Strengthening the infrastructure interconnection of the Greater Bay Area by promoting the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Western Rail Link and the Northern Ring Line, enhancing transportation connections with Shenzhen and other cities in the Greater Bay Area.
