The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government today launched a two-month public consultation on the Hong Kong Five-Year Plan. Chief Executive Carrie Lam said that the SAR government hopes to hear the opinions of the public, listen to the voices of the people, and work together to develop a five-year plan that belongs to the people of Hong Kong. Lam pointed out that the development of the first five-year plan in Hong Kong is a historic step with great significance. The five-year plan will benefit the people of Hong Kong and various sectors of society, including: first, consolidating and enhancing Hong Kong's advantages in international finance, shipping, trade, innovation and technology, strengthening the construction of an international aviation hub, creating an international high-end talent gathering place, and accelerating the development of the Northern Metropolis, etc.; second, enabling Hong Kong to seize more opportunities brought by national strategies and development, covering talent demands, capital flows, industrial development, job opportunities, and personal development spaces, etc.; third, helping Hong Kong to better integrate into and serve the overall national development, promoting the successful practice of "one country, two systems", allowing Hong Kong to play a bridge role in internal and external communication, driving high-quality development, and enabling the people to share more development dividends. The consultation period is from today until August 14. The public consultation documents will be distributed at the 18 District Public Advisory Service Centers in Hong Kong starting today, and uploaded simultaneously to the dedicated website. Citizens can submit their opinions through the dedicated website, email, or mail. During the consultation period, the SAR government will hold a number of consultation activities to listen to the opinions of legislators, the industry, and the public.
