On June 13, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Mongolian Foreign Minister Battsetseg in Ulaanbaatar and jointly met with reporters. Wang Yi stated that China and Mongolia are close neighbors with a traditional friendship worth cherishing. China has always attached great importance to its relations with Mongolia, placing Mongolia in an important position in its neighboring diplomacy, adhering to the concept of good-neighborliness and partnership, and developing bilateral relations with Mongolia based on the principles of amity, sincerity, mutual benefit, and inclusiveness. We appreciate Mongolia making the development of relations with China a top priority in its foreign policy. A close neighbor is better than a distant relative. Mongolia's friendly policy towards China completely conforms to the fundamental and long-term interests of Mongolia and its people. I have reached a broad consensus with the Foreign Minister in our talks. Both sides stated that in the face of turbulent and challenging international situations, China and Mongolia should work together more closely, be good neighbors and partners that trust and support each other, and continue to strive towards building a China-Mongolia community of shared future featuring peaceful coexistence, mutual assistance, and win-win cooperation. Both sides reiterated their mutual respect for independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, core interests, and major concerns, as well as each other's chosen development paths. China appreciates Mongolia's adherence to the One-China principle, rejection of any form of "Taiwan independence," and support for China's principled positions on Taiwan, Hong Kong, Xinjiang, and Tibet-related issues. Wang Yi stated that good neighbors should visit each other more often, and good partners should help each other. China supports Mongolia's economic and livelihood development and welcomes Mongolia to ride the fast train of China's development. According to international institutions, for every 1% of China's economic growth, Mongolias export volume could increase by 4%, and its economy could grow by 0.6%. This fully demonstrates the close economic ties between the two countries. The construction of the second cross-border railway between the two countries is accelerating, poised to become another major artery for mutual connectivity. China is a partner that Mongolia can trust and rely on, and will always lend a helping hand when Mongolia needs it the most. In order to help Mongolia respond to the recent outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease, China has decided to urgently supply Mongolia with 1 million doses of vaccines. The Chinese-aided Mongolia housing renovation project has been completed and handed over, and projects closely related to the livelihood of the Mongolian people, such as the China-Mongolia leaders' sports center and the Erdenet hydroelectric power station, have made positive progress. During my visit to Mongolia, I will also have the opportunity to attend the completion ceremony of the Ulaanbaatar sewage treatment plant, which will provide safe drinking water for the citizens of Ulaanbaatar. Modernization is a common task for China and Mongolia. Both sides will base themselves on the present, look to the long-term, promote the alignment of the Belt and Road Initiative with the Prairie Road development strategy, deepen exchanges of governance experience, tap into the potential for cooperation in emerging areas, and jointly walk the path of modernization that suits their respective national conditions. Wang Yi stated that China and Mongolia are both active forces committed to world peace, stability, and development, and are willing to strengthen coordination in regional and international multilateral affairs in order to safeguard the common interests of developing countries. China appreciates Mongolia's support for President Xi Jinping's proposal to build a community with a shared future for mankind and the four major global initiatives, and is pleased to see Mongolia play an active role in international and regional affairs, as well as support Mongolia in hosting the 17th Conference of Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification.
